Rumiko Takahashi, master manga artist and creator of Inuyasha, was born in Niigata, Japan on October 10, 1957. She was a student at the Woman's College of Tokyo, winning an award in Shogakukan's "New Comic Artist Contest" in 1978. Takahashi is one of the most prolific and successful manga artists of our time as well as the richest woman in Japan. With hits like Ranma 1/2, (a 34 volume series and one of the longest ever made) Maison Ikkoku, and Lum*Uresei Yatsura, it seems like whatever she creates becomes an automatic bestseller.
