Spoiler Alert, Manga Chapter 374

Kagura has crossed Naraku for the last time. He innocently hands over her heart to her, poisoned with miasma, and tells her that she is finally free. Kagura's freedom is bittersweet in that her few moments of freedom are excrutiatingly painful, with miasma slowly killing her. Sesshoumaru, smelling Naraku's scent, heads off in Kagura's direction. Inuyasha, too, smells Kagura's blood and Inuyasha and company head off in her direction as well.

In the meantime, Kagura is a druken state of happiness. For the first time, she can feel her heart beat within her and wonders where she'll go, what she'll do. She falls to her knees in a field of flowers, saddened by the fact that she'd soon die alone. Surprisingly, Sesshoumaru walks up to her and tells her that he followed the scent of Naraku's miasma. Kagura laughs and asks him if he was dissapointed to find her and not Naraku; he tells her that he knew it was her all along.

Eyes widening, Kagura watches as Sesshomaru unsheathes his Tenseiga and tries in vain to save her. She smiles at him just as Inuyasha enters the scene. She whispers, more to herself than to anyone else, "I am the wind. As free as the wind..." And without warning, Kagura turns into dust and is whisked away by an unexpected gust of wind. A feather hovers in the air for a split second before disappearing into the distance. Inuyasha asks Sesshoumaru if she was suffering and he tells him that she was smiling.
